At Wednesday night’s Kiwanis meeting, we were honored to welcome Glen Tyson, representing the Philadelphia Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
The Philadelphia Continental Chapter is one of the largest and most active chapters in the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Established in 1901, it has a proud legacy of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting educational initiatives. As Chaplain, Glen plays a vital role in the chapter by providing spiritual support and guidance to its members.
Glen joined us to recognize and present certificates to members of our club for their participation in the nightly Flag Lowering Ceremony at Cove Beach. Held each evening at sunset from Memorial Day through September 11th, this moving tradition is a tribute to the men and women who have served our country and a celebration of the freedoms we cherish.
The Flag Lowering Ceremony brings the Cape May community together—residents and visitors alike—for a shared moment of reflection, unity, and gratitude beneath the setting sun.
“Too many to name individually, but each honoree plays an important role in keeping this meaningful tradition alive. We thank you all for your dedication and patriotism. Especially Bob Elwell for all his years of leadership! See pictures below, and so many more honored but not present.
